Motion Case Study: Polls 5 Weeks In
Overview
This motion graphics piece was created for Resolute Square (now Lincoln Square) early in Trump’s second term, with the goal of highlighting polling data that pushed back on claims of a “MAGA mandate.”
The Challenge
After the election, a lot of people were surprised and unsure where Americans actually stood on Trump’s policies. The challenge was to cut through that noise with something clear and credible, no commentary, just straightforward, data-driven insights that were easy to understand in a short-form video.
Strategy & Concept
The idea was to let the data speak for itself. I used real poll screenshots from reputable sources, highlighting key takeaways and pulling them out visually so viewers could quickly grasp the bigger picture.
The tone was intentionally calm and hopeful, pacing the information in a way that builds trust rather than overwhelming the viewer.
Process
I started by digging through polling data and identifying the most impactful stats. From there, I structured the video to flow logically, using highlights and callouts to simplify each point. A few rounds of iteration helped dial in the pacing so it felt clear, not rushed.
Execution
Built in After Effects and Premiere Pro, and formatted 1:1 for social.
Key elements:
Typewriter-style text to reinforce credibility
Clean callouts to spotlight key stats
Steady pacing to guide the viewer
Music that supports a more hopeful tone
Outcome
The final video turned complex polling data into something quick, clear, and engaging, helping viewers better understand public sentiment while reinforcing trust in the brand.
Reflection
This project pushed my ability to use pacing and motion to shape how information feels, not just how it looks, especially when working with sensitive, data-heavy topics.
